Nanhui District is one of the nineteen administrative regions of Shanghai and its name is derived from the fact that the water of the Yangtze River runs to the south because of sea tide and meets with Qiantang River . It covers an area of 835 square kilometers and borders the East China Sea on the east, faces Ningbo City on the south across Hangzhou Bay , looks over Shanghai urban district on the west across the Huangpu River and connects with Pudong New Area on the north. The district has a population of 780,000 and 45 kilometers coastline. It is a typical region of south China with a smooth terrain and a network of rivers. The climate in Nanhui is the subtropical monsoon climate with an average temperature of 15.6℃ and an average rainfall of 1,061 millimeters.
